The ruling treats the company as a public charity, and is effective October 09, 2006.   Middle Fork Outfitters will remain in advance ruling status until December 31, 2010.

April 21 is set for the spring Holdem Poker tournament.  This is an open competition, with the proceeds of the $100 buy in going to the general revenue.  We will use a format similar to the WSOP.  Be thinking of how you want your name to read on the huge trophy.  One winner, one champion for Middle Fork Outfitters Holdem XVII.

We will also auction off some items, such as Spurs playoff tickets, Nascar memorabilia, an official hand made Middle Fork garden bench, and other items.  Please let us know if you have an item suitable for such a gathering you would like to donate.  Get more info here.

The IRS tax deduct status is pending, but is retroactive if granted.  We have every confidence and intention of receiving 501 C 3 status, probably by the end of January at the latest.  The Board insists.  Our accountant believes the paperwork to be in order.

We are in need of immediate money to pay for brochures, items for the Middle Fork Store, fund some Fund Raisers, and obtain insurance.  We will also likely buy some equipment.  Visa/MC, Paypal; personal checks.

Deductibility of Contributions
 
Are contributions to an organization that has not received an exemption determination letter deductible (for example, while an application is pending)?
If an organization is exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, charitable contributions to it are deductible.  To be exempt under section 501(c)(3), most organizations must file Form 1023 by the end of the 27th month after they were created.  If an organization does so, charitable contributions to it will be deductible back to the date of formation.  The extent to which donors may be assured that their contributions will be deductible in advance, however, will depend on whether the organization has—
* Timely filed Form 1023 , Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, but not yet received a letter recognizing its exempt status,
* Filed Form 1023 later than the prescribed time, or
* Not filed Form 1023.
